Welcome to Mountain Haven!

Mountain Haven is a place where many bats gather. Whether a bat was born here or found separated from their family, they come to stay. (Bat types are: Silverwing, Brightwing, Foxwing, Graywing, Albino, Fish-eating bat, or a Mixed bat. Vampyrum Spectrum are not allowed.) Normally bats would not be taught to fight, but a Colony of Vampyrum Spectrum live near our paradise for all bats. Once a Newborn is finished with their training, they become Colony Members, or in some cases, Young Healer, depending on what they want to train for. There is only one Young Healer at a time.

More Trainees

"All bats old enough to catch prey join beneath the Cave Ledge for a meeting!" Glista called. "It is time for Celeste and Shine to recieve Trainers!" she squeaked. Celeste and Shine looked at her with bright eyes filled with excitement. "Celeste you shall be trained by me" Glista told her. Celeste looked honored to be trained by the Head Bat. "Shine your Trainer shall be Ethar" Glista said. Shine flew over to Ethar and they exchanged a happy greeting. "I am now going to speak with the Head Elders." Glista screeched over the noise, and flew off the Cave Ledge.

Rise of the Vampyrum Spectrum Part 3

Blare and Haze flapped towards the entrance to Mountain Haven, and bats swirled around inside and outside. When they saw Blare they started to fly to her, but retreated and hissed when they saw Haze. She saw Blaze glide up to the Elder's Roost. 'Great, trouble already' she thought worriedly with a twisted expression. Haze was looking sadly downwards. Blare comforted him by saying, "Hey, it'll be fine, they just don't know you it's only..." He cut her off. "Who I am" he snapped. "It'll be fine" she squeaked. They landed roughly on the edge of the stone and they crawled safely inside. The Colony bats and Mothers sat glaring, while the Newborns tried to get a look at the Vampyrum. Then Elysia and Fang swooped in, old wings creaking, and Blaze trailing behind them. They landed far in front of Haze and Blare. "Blare, why have you brought a Vampyrum here!" Elysia hissed. Haze twitched his ears. "He's different, he can't stand bat blood, he's not a cannibal...Haze can't go back, they killed his friend." Blare explained. "Haze...so that's his name, well, what do you suppose Haze eats then? If it's not bats" Fang spat. Haze then spoke up "Squirrels, rabbits, and small birds" Elysia was surprised. Fang was about to growl something, but EWlysia moved her wing up to silence everyone who was whispering. "Very well, but he stays in the corner away from everyone else, and someone will always guard him" she sighed. Fang nodded, and they flew slowly up to their roost, Glista following so as to discuss the matter more. Blare gave Haze a sad and helpless look. They flew to "his" corner. "Sorry I couldn't do anything else" she apologized. "It's not your fault" he told her. Then they settled down to rest, and only Haze noticed Ghost standing near, always watching. 'My guard' he thought bitterly, then laid his head down. The odd tired pair fell asleep almost instantly.

Rise of the Vampyrum Spectrum Part 2

Blare awoke to sunlight, unusually, but it was because her Training was in the daylight most of the time. She fluttered to the cave entrance where Faith sat waiting for her. "Ready?" Faith asked her. She nodded. "I am going to hide, you have to find me and capture this..." She grabbed something from a crevice. "...Mango" Faith said. "That is if I can lose you first" Faith took off like a rocket. Blare followed, but she couldn't fly as fast when Faith ducked into the forest, her wingspan was a tiny bit to large. Leaves smashed against her face, wind currents slowing her down. She finally stopped, out of breath. She heard crying coming from a tree. "Hello?" she called. The crying stopped, and the face of a bat larger than Spark's, but smaller than hers popped out. It screeched violently when it saw her, and that made her hiss and withdraw back. "Who are you, Vampyrum" Blare spit, on her guard in case it attacked, knowing it was faster and stronger, especially because she had no training. "My name is Haze" it whimpered and then said "Who and what are you? I always thought we were the largest bats..." Blare snorted "Well cannibal, I'm a Foxwing and my name is Blare" Haze was confused "Foxwing? And what's a cannibal?" "A cannibal means you eat your own kind stupid" Blare retorted. At this Haze roared and shot at Blare. He took her out of the sky and pinned her on the ground "Don't you ever say I'm a cannibal! My best friend was half Graywing!" he screeched at her. Fury, making him scratch her fur. When she started bleeding, Blare got worried he would be tempted...to bite her and kill her, but he just started to look sick and sat up, seeming to wake up from a dream. "I...I'm sorry" he said blankly. "It's ok" she breathed, thinking. "You're different, not like the others, bat blood makes you sick" she told him. "I'm not going back to them either...they killed Angel, just because she was different...and I'll never forget that" he confessed. "Well, I guess you can stay with me then!" she said brightening. He nodded his thanks and they were about to start out for Mountain Haven when something occured to Blare. "Wait! I have training first!" she cried out. Then turned in midair with Haze following her, They pumped their wings hard.

Song Valley

Trainers come here with their Trainees to teach them different skills. Trees surround most of it, but one edge breaks into a large pond. It's not very far from Mountain Haven, and has many hollowed trees to hide in. Birdsong can usually be heard during most of the day.

New Trainees!

"It is time for Blare and Spark to train and ready themselves for any Vampyrum attacks!" Glista squeaked as she landed on the Cave Ledge. "Faith will train Blare to guard herself against the cannibals!" Faith flew over to Blare gracefully. Blare was almost as big as Faith, but she looked at her mentor with great respect and willingness to learn. "When do we start?" Blare asked her. "Soon little Foxwing" Faith told her patiently. "Spark will train with Moon as her mentor!" Glista then said. Spark stumbled over to Moon, excitement shining in her eyes and speeding up her heart. Bats dispersed and Glista flew up to the Elder's Roost to report.

Rise of the Vampyrum Spectrum Part 1

Haze awoke to the sound of many of his kind flapping about. He twitched his ears and flared his wings, to see what everyone was so excited about. He took flight and soared onto a roost beside his mother, Ataxia. He thought of his father, Chaos, the former leader. Chaos had disappeared one day on a hunt, just completely gone. Veil, a she-bat, would remain in charge until his brother Soot was old enough to take power.

"Today! Is a victory yet to be won!" Veil cried out. Two large Vampyrum thrust Angel into the cave and on the floor. Haze looked in horror. Angel was a mixed bat, half Vampyrum Spectrum, half Graywing. She was his best friend, and they took care of each other. "You can't do this! I'm half Vampyrum Spectrum!" she cried, whimpering. A maniacal smile lit Veil's face. "Then we'll only eat half of you!" Veil screeched. "No! You can't do this!" a familiar voice said. Every bat turned to look at him, and Haze realized it was his own. He flew down to Angel awkwardly. "Get away Haze, we must destroy this poison" Veil growled. He shook his head and Veil swiftly flew down, angry...screeching...and clouted him on the head. Everything went dark.

He woke to light streaming in and to cave floor, he also smelt blood. 'Hmmm, breakfast already? I hope it's Squirrel' he thought. Though, as he sat up, he saw a sickening sight and remembered the events of the night before. Angel's small body lay mangled and broken in front of him. Tears welled in his eyes. "No, no, no, no..." he wailed. Ataxia landed beside him, looking at the floor of the cave. "It had to be done...her father was a traitor to our kind" she whispered in her only half soothing voice. He turned away, and flew into broad daylight, tears streaming behind him.
