Haze groaned, waking up feeling battered and broken. He stretched his wings, feeling twinges of pain from bruises. Right, we fell... he thought. His eyes flicked open. "Blare!" he called, looking for his Foxwing companion. Strange trees with pine needles and leaves on the same branch surrounded him. He sniffed...no smell. He caught only a faint scent of Blare, and used his echolocation to track her.
Blare lay limp on the forest floor. "Blare!" he screeched, wings pounded to get to her side. Oh no! Is she dead? Haze thought, panicked.
"Don't worry, she still has the glow" a shy voice whispered. A young Silverwing bat emerged from behind one of the strange trees.
"Wh-who are you?" he stuttered, confused and turned to her.
"My name is Sage. I am one of the few who know this, but this is the world of the dead" she whispered. Haze looked down at himself, scared now.
"Do not fear, you are still alive," Sage assured him "but Cama Zots will want your life, and will capture the Foxwing if you're not careful"
Haze swallowed, understanding, he knew the tales of his "god" and despised Cama Zots.
